If you are in the market to buy Incline Village, NV real estate, you are about to make an exciting purchase! Living in Lake Tahoe is truly one of the most amazing opportunities. There is no shortage of things to do all year around, you are surrounded by nature, you get to enjoy a smaller community type of environment and there is a TON of sun. Even in the winter! But living in the mountains isn’t always a vacation. Here are some things to “know before you go”!
KNOW YOUR GOALS. Buying homes for sale in Lake Tahoe, NV is a big decision AND investment. You should know what you want out of this property before you even start looking. Of course, with the low inventory, it is good to be flexible, but ask yourself these questions: Is this a vacation home or a permanent residence? Do you want a cute A frame, condo, lakeview, ski in/ski out or a fixer you can make your own? How much over budget can you go? Do you want to be close to certain amenities or schools? Knowing your priorities vs desires will help you narrow down your search so you can feel confident about the Incline Village, NV real estate you decide to purchase.
BE PREPARED FOR THE WEATHER. Listen, we know mountain life, especially in Lake Tahoe, is stunning. Like, really REALLY stunning. But! It is not for the faint of heart. There is a saying that you are not truly a local unless you have seen it snow every month of the year and that may be one of the best ways to put it. Winter can be especially treacherous if you are not prepared. We can get high winds, hail storms, thunder and lightening when you least expect it, even in August. So, look into the things that you need to have to keep you, your property and your vehicle prepared and ready for anything.
PLAN TO COMMUTE. While Lake Tahoe has several towns lining the shore and is in close proximity to Reno, Carson City and the Bay Area, some needs can feel limited especially if you are used to city or suburban amenities. We definitely have everything you could possibly need but wants-like a shopping mall or neighborhood Whole Foods-you may need to drive a bit for. You will also need to be prepared for traffic during times that see a lot of tourism. Most of our city transplants are used to a higher volume rush hour and don’t complain as it is considerably less, but there are certain times of year where you need to give yourself a bit more time to get to and from.
Owning in Incline Village -Lake Tahoe, NV real estate is truly so amazing and adapting from city and suburban life is seamless and easy for so many!
